Prof. Dr. Boris Evgeniev Sakakushev was born in Plovdiv and has been working at the First Clinic of Surgery and the Department of Propaedeutics of Surgical Diseases Medical University Plovdiv since 1987. He specializes in general surgery, oncology and a master’s degree in health management. He is project leader of “Patient Safety in Surgery” at the Research Institute of MU Plovdiv.
The activities and spheres of work of Prof. Sakakushev are diagnostics, treatment and expert activity in the field of general surgery and surgical oncology, and senior lecturer (lectures and practicals) in English and Bulgarian of medical students, senior doctors, specialists in Surgery and General Medicine and the Erasmus programme.
He has specialized in Great Britain, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Austria.
He is the president of BESTS, vice president of BSS, member of BMA, the National Board of Surgery, the World Society of Emergency Surgery – a delegate for Bulgaria and a member of the editorial board of WJES. He has over 300 publications, 5056 citations, 38 – Hirsch index, all listed in the NACID database.
